Reminder: Year-round Zika Prevention
Due to recent reports of Zika cases in Collin and Williamson counties, we would like to remind you that mosquito repellant is a year-round benefit for Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) members.
Benefit Details
- Covered programs: Medicaid, CHIP, CHIP-perinatal
- Eligible members:
- Pregnant women of any age
- Females – ages 10 through 55
- Males – ages 14 and older
- The pharmacy benefit for approved mosquito repellents is limited to one can/bottle per prescription fill, with up to two fills allowable per calendar month.
- There is a standing order for mosquito repellent so prescriptions are not needed for your patients unless the standing order is not used by a particular pharmacy.
