Medical Policies: We Want Your Feedback

Medical policies, both new and revised, are used as guidelines to determine health care benefits for most Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) members, unless otherwise indicated. These policies may impact your reimbursement and your patients’ benefits. Approved, new, pending and revised BCBSTX medical policies and their effective dates are usually posted online the first day of each month.

Access BCBSTX Medical Policies

  • To view active, pending, updated and draft policies, go to the Medical Policies section of BCBSTX’s provider website.
    • After confirming your agreement with the Medical Policies disclaimer, you will be directed to the Medical Policies homepage.
  • You can access the Government Program policies on the left side of the page. At the top, you can filter policies by policy number or title, ICD-9, ICD-10, Current Procedural Terminology® and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System codes. There is also a search function available.
