BCBSTX and Magellan Healthcare® Host Provider Brown Bag Series in Austin

One of the aims of the Quality Improvement department at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) is to improve the integration of care between physical and behavioral health. Collaboration among primary care and behavioral health providers is important to the delivery of quality patient care as it reduces:

  • Potential fragmentation in care, which can lead to gaps in care or services
  • Duplication/redundancy of services or medication
  • The complex interdependence of physical health and behavioral health conditions

To aid in the integration of care between physical and behavioral health, BCBSTX has partnered with Magellan Healthcare to provide a Provider Brown Bag Series presented by Dr. Diane Felder, Medical Director of Magellan Healthcare.

Dr. Felder is board-certified in both general psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Felder was in private practice 1990-2010 and provided behavioral health services to children and their families.

Below is a list of the Provider Brown Bag Series topics:

  • June 26: Assessing Childhood Maladaptive Behaviors; Is this ADHD?
  • Sept. 25: Managing the Psychotic Patient and When to Refer to a Behavioral Health Provider
  • Dec. 18: Reducing Poly-Pharmacy in the Child and Adolescent Population
