BCBSTX Plans Significant Behavioral Health Enhancements in 2019

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) understands that behavioral health is a primary focus of employers today. Nearly 1 in 5 individuals has a mental health disorder, according to Mental Health America. Due in large part to the stigma surrounding mental health issues, 50 percent to 70 percent of those individuals have not received treatment.

For your clients, this means their employees may not be getting the care they need. Employees with access to the proper behavioral health treatment may perform better at work, incur fewer health care expenses, have fewer workplace accidents, and feel more committed and satisfied with their jobs.

BCBSTX is making significant investments in behavioral health with enhancements rolling out beginning July 1, 2019. The primary enhancements:

Apply to substance use, opioid and autism programs
Provide improved access to the behavioral health provider network
Offer advanced analytics and reporting

These enhancements will facilitate comprehensive support for our members and provide quantified outcomes for employers.
