New for 2023: Specialty Pharmacies Added In-Network
Applies to all groups, ASO and fully insured

What’s new: Christus Specialty Pharmacy, University Medical Center and Red Chip were added to select specialty pharmacy networks effective Jan. 1, 2023. Members with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) pharmacy coverage have these new dispensing options available for specialty medications covered under the pharmacy benefit. They also have access to the IntegratedRx™ (IRX) oral oncology network.

An updated list of BCBSTX’s in-network specialty pharmacy vendors can be found on our provider website. Members can view the specialty network list by logging into their Blue Access for Members^SM or MyPrime.com accounts.

Network Details:

• Christus Specialty Pharmacy has been added to the BCBSTX specialty pharmacy network. Christus Specialty Pharmacy only ships to Texas and Louisiana.

• Christus Specialty Pharmacy and University Medical Center (UMC) have been added to the oral oncology network. Christus Specialty Pharmacy only ships to Texas and Louisiana.  UMC does not offer shipping or delivery.

• Red Chip has been added to the hemophilia network. Red Chip offers nationwide shipping.

• IRX is a clinically integrated program that allows members to receive their oral oncology and other select medications in their health care provider’s clinic or hospital pharmacy, where the doctor and pharmacist are part of the same team and have direct communication.

What’s next: Effective March 12, 2023, Prime Therapeutics^® will transition its existing oral oncology network over to the IRX network. Pharmacies currently participating in the oral oncology network have been notified of the change and asked to confirm participation in the IRX network. The transition will be seamless for members and there will be no disruption in care.
