BCBSTX and Medical Center Hospital in Odessa Negotiating New Contracts
Applies to all groups
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) and Medical Center Hospital (MCH) in Odessa are negotiating new contracts. If we don’t sign new agreements by June 1, 2023, MCH will leave the following networks:
We hope to sign agreements that compensate MCH fairly while being good stewards of our members’ health care dollars.
Why negotiate: As a customer-owned health insurance industry leader in Texas for 90 years, we work with doctors and hospitals to find solutions that are in the best interest of our members. We advocate on our members’ behalf for quality, cost-effective health care. It is a responsibility we take very seriously.
Finding in-network care: If MCH leaves our networks, we will do everything we can to help members move their care to quality, cost-effective, convenient in-network doctors and hospitals. Members have several ways to find in-network care:
Care for ongoing conditions: Members who are pregnant or being treated for a disability, acute condition or life-threatening illness may qualify as a continuity of care patient. This means they may still be able to receive care at in-network rates at MCH even if it leaves our networks. To find out if they’re eligible, members can call the number on their ID card for more information.
More information: We will notify our members at least 30 days prior to the potential MCH term date. For the latest information, visit bcbstx.com/mch. Please contact your BCBSTX representative with any questions or concerns.
