BCBSTX and Cogdell Memorial Hospital Negotiating New Blue Advantage HMOSM Contracts
Applies to all groups

D M Cogdell Memorial Hospital (Cogdell) in Snyder notified us that the hospital and the D M Cogdell Memorial Hospital Medical Group will leave our Blue Advantage HMO network on Sept. 6, 2023. We hope Cogdell reconsiders and continues to provide medical services to our Blue Advantage HMO members.

We will notify our members at least 30 days prior to the termination date.

Blue Advantage HMO members must seek in-network care for their benefits to apply, except for emergencies. Emergency services are covered at the in-network benefit level. Member responsibility for any additional charges will depend on their health plan and applicable law. Learn more about surprise billing at bcbstx.com.

Finding in-network care: If Cogdell hospital and doctors leave our Blue Advantage HMO network, we will do everything we can to help members move their care to quality, cost-effective, in-network hospitals. Members have several ways to find in-network care:

Care for ongoing conditions: Members who are pregnant or being treated for a disability, acute condition or life-threatening illness may qualify as a continuity of care patient. This means they may still be able to receive care at in-network rates at Cogdell even after they leave our Blue Advantage HMO network. To find out if they are eligible, members can call the number on their ID card for more information.

Other networks: Cogdell participates in other Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) networks. While we are negotiating new contracts for these networks, there is no termination on the table:
