BCBSTX, Collective Health Announce Plans to Deliver Streamlined, Digital Health Care Experience at Scale
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) and Collective Health announced a strategic relationship to deliver a seamless digital platform to help employers and members identify, navigate, understand and pay for the diverse services that meet their evolving health care needs. Through the collaboration, BCBSTX will bring new and existing customers access to Collective Health’s digital platform and services, beginning with self-funded customers in Illinois and Texas. In connection with the strategic relationship, BCBSTX also will invest in Collective Health, subject to regulatory approval.
BCBSTX will offer Collective Health’s integrated solution, which provides a single digital platform that enables self-funded employers to administer benefits, reduce workload, manage costs, and help manage the health of their people – all in one place. For members, Collective Health will enhance navigation, providing a personalized experience with products and features that make it easier to understand and manage their health care, from wherever they are.
We believe this relationship will fortify our commitment to make health care more accessible, affordable and simpler for employers and members, meeting their diverse needs and improving health outcomes. Key capabilities of the platform include:
Curated Programs – Offering choice and flexibility developed through population data, which helps identify appropriate digital health and virtual provider programs for an employer’s benefits strategy and needs.
A Connected Administration – Simplifying how benefits teams run and manage their whole health care strategy by bringing together administration, adjudication, eligibility, consolidated billing, payments, and advanced reporting and analytics into one streamlined digital platform.
A Personalized Member Experience – Combining human interaction and powerful platform technology with data analytics and thoughtful digital outreach to drive engagement, deliver incredible support, and provide guidance to assist members in receiving the care they need, when they need it.
The Collective Health offering will be available to Illinois and Texas employers with 1,000+ eligible employees for the 2021 sales season, to go live on Jan. 1, 2022. Existing accounts in those markets may choose this product during their annual renewal cycle.
This builds on both companies’ ongoing work to help employers and their people manage health care costs, while providing better access and understanding to their health care. Other examples of BCBSTX resources include:
Health Advocacy Solutions gives employees a single point of contact, a personal health advocate, to serve as a convenient resource for their health care needs. Health advocates can answer questions about benefits, seamlessly leverage the expertise of clinical nurses, pharmacists, and benefits experts and help members identify where to go for care – including Virtual Visits and the bilingual 24/7 nurse line to help avoid high-cost emergency room or out-of-network visits.
Wellbeing Management provides members with customized online education and one-on-one coaching to encourage healthy behaviors. Clinicians proactively reach out to the highest-risk members to help improve condition management and quality of life.
Enhanced Behavioral Health provides person-to-person outreach and digital resources to help members understand and address their behavioral health needs, from short-term life events to mental illness and substance use disorders.
Integrated Pharmacy Program uses pharmacist and clinician outreach to help educate and actively guide members toward the most effective and cost-efficient pharmaceutical drug options and convenient centers of care.
