BCBSTX Negotiating New Contracts with UHS Acute Care Hospitals and Doctors
BCBSTX is negotiating with Universal Health Services, Inc., (UHS) to keep their acute care hospitals and doctors in-network.
If we don’t sign new agreements by Jan. 1, 2024, UHS hospitals and doctors will leave these provider networks:
We hope to sign agreements that compensate UHS fairly while being good stewards of our members’ health care dollars.
Finding in-network care: If UHS hospitals and doctors leave our networks, we will do everything we can to help members move their care to quality, cost-effective, in-network hospitals. Members have several ways to find in-network care:

Care for ongoing conditions: Members who are pregnant or being treated for a disability, acute condition or life-threatening illness may qualify as a continuity of care patient. This means they may still be able to receive care at in-network rates at UHS even if it leaves our networks. To find out if they’re eligible, members can call the number on their member ID card for more information.
More information: We will notify our members at least 30 days prior to the potential term date. For the latest information, visit bcbstx.com/uhs. Please contact your Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas representative with any questions or concerns.
