Prescription Reminders Help Members’ Health Outcomes
Applies to Medicare, Individual & Family Markets

What's new: Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, D-SNP and IFM members now receive automated prescription refill reminders via text and email.

Why it matters: These reminders target members with key chronic conditions that affect Medicare Star and Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set   ratings:

• Diabetes
• High blood pressure
• High cholesterol
• Depression
• Asthma

• Alerts are sent three days before a refill is due and two days after, if the refill is overdue

• Multiple same-day refills are sent in one combined reminder

• Reminders for IFM, D-SNP and Medicaid members include a direct link to the Blue Access for Members^SM Portal. For Medicare Advantage members, there is not a BAM^SM link. However, the member can request contact with the pharmacy to refill a prescription.

• Members automatically opt in when they provide a textable phone number upon enrollment. Members can opt out at any time.

Bottom line: Prescription reminders improve medication adherence and support better health outcomes.
